At Maes Ebbw, we offer a diverse range of services to support our pupils' needs. This includes innovative programs like Liquid Listening and MOVE, alongside traditional such as Speech and Language services and support from our dedicated Nursing Team. We committed to providing a holistic approach to enhance each child's development and well-being.

Liquid Listening is a remarkable musical hydrotherapy experience that blends sound, vibration and water to create deep relaxation and a profound sense of wellbeing. Special speakers beneath the pool allow music to travel through the water so that pupils not only hear the sound but also feel it as gentle, calming vibrations across their whole body. With the head partly submerged, the music resonates directly through the inner ear, creating the magical sensation of music being heard from within.

We are incredibly proud to have a dedicated team of highly trained Liquid Listening practitioners who deliver personalised, nurturing sessions for our pupils. Their expertise ensures that every session is carefully tailored to individual needs, making this a much-loved part of our school’s holistic approach to wellbeing.

For pupils with PMLD and complex physical needs, Liquid Listening offers moments of comfort, supporting relaxation, easing muscle tension, improving circulation and gently encouraging movement both in the water and afterwards. The impact on pupils’ comfort, emotional regulation and overall wellbeing is powerful.

Our practitioners also support pupils with ASD, ADHD and other neurodiverse profiles, providing a soothing, sensory-rich environment where they can feel secure, grounded and ready to engage. The pool becomes a space of calm and joy, helping pupils build confidence, regulate their emotions and enjoy meaningful sensory experiences.

Liquid Listening has become one of Maes Ebbw’s standout strengths, an example of our commitment to innovative, nurturing and pupil-centred practice. It is a provision we are truly proud of.
