In line with WAG guidance the funding for pupils made available through PDG (Pupil Deprivation Grant) is focussed on vulnerable pupils primarily those who are entitled to Free School Meals and Looked After pupils to ensure that the funds are targeted to improve outcomes for these pupils. The PDG grant for 2020/21 is being used to support improving communication skills for vulnerable pupils. The PDG grant is also targeted on improving engagement with parents through parent support programmes, and online strategies to improve communication and engagement for parents/carers of vulnerable pupils.
The EIG (Education Improvement Grant) is focussed on improving the quality of teaching in core subjects and addressing pupils’ wellbeing. Funding in 2020/21 is invested in improving digital competency skills and training teachers in specialist interventions and strategies e.g. Thrive
